The Sun Odyssey 24.2 is a 23.95-foot recreational keelboat designed by Jacques Fauroux and built by Jeanneau since 1998. It is a popular choice for both beginners and experienced sailors, due to its easy handling, comfortable accommodations, and versatility.
The Sun Odyssey 24.2 has a fractional sloop rig and is available in two versions: a fixed keel version with a draft of 3.61 feet, and a centerboard version with a draft of 4.59 feet with the centerboard extended and 2.13 feet with it retracted. This makes the centerboard version ideal for sailing in shallow waters or for trailering.
The boat has a spacious cockpit with plenty of seating for six people. The cockpit is also equipped with a self-tacking jib, making it easy for one person to sail the boat. The interior of the Sun Odyssey 24.2 is surprisingly spacious for a boat of its size. It has a double V-berth in the bow, two straight settees in the main cabin, and an aft cabin with a double berth. The galley is located on the port side just forward of the companionway ladder and is equipped with a two-burner stove and a sink. The head is located just aft of the companionway on the starboard side.
